The California State University, East Bay Microsoft Certified Systems
Administrator 2003 (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems
Administrator Plus 2003 (MCSA+) certificates are excellent
options for those who need to qualify themselves for entry-level positions
as network administrators, computer technicians and systems support
specialists. Earning the MCSA credential indicates to potential medium
and large-size employers that one has the necessary expertise to manage
and maintain complex Windows® Server 2003-based computing environments.
Cal State East Bay's program prepares graduates to take the MCSA series
of certification exams and equips them with skills that range from configuring
Microsoft Windows XP for mobile computing to allocating IP addresses
using DHCP.
Those who already hold third-party Security+ certification, A+ and
Network+ certifications, or -A+ and Server+ certifications, should pursue
Cal State East Bay's Microsoft Certified System Administrator Plus 2003
(MCSA+) certificate.
Offered in partnership with Gatlin Education Services, both programs'
online-only format makes them convenient for professionals anywhere
in the world, not just those who live or work in the San Francisco East
Bay Area.
Program Objectives
- To prepare graduates for entry-level positions as network administrators,
computer technicians and systems support specialists.
- To provide graduates the skills needed to create a networking services
infrastructure design that supports the required network applications.
- To give graduates an understanding of how networking concepts are
implemented in Windows 2003.
- To familiarize graduates with network solution technologies including
DHCP, IP, OSPF, RIP and IGMP.
- To equip graduates to install and configure Windows 2003 server
and install, configure, manage and support a network infrastructure
that uses Microsoft Windows 2003 server.
- To provide graduates the knowledge and skills needed to design a
security framework for small, medium and enterprise networks by using
Microsoft Windows 2003 technologies.
- To prepare graduates for the MCSA series of certification exams:
70-290 - Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Environment; 70-291 - Implementing, Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft
Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure; 70-270 - Installing, Configuring
and Administering Microsoft Windows® XP Professional; 70-284: Implementing
and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (Note: 70-284 does not
apply for MCSA+ students).
